Christian Response to Hiv and Aids
CRHA Vision:
- We want to see Cambodian church members building their relationships according to God’s Word–Abstinence & Faithfulness - and having a heart for PLWA’s.
- We want to enable the church to help PLWA – to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
- To visit and encourage PLWA’s through practical help and to share the Scriptures. To help them to care for their health and spiritual wellbeing.
CRHA Vision:
- Teaching the churches of different denominations and helping them to network with other groups, local health centers and with organizations that have HIV/AIDS program and national authoritiens in the villages.
- Visiting AIDS praticents at their home.
- Praparing a new strategy to form a group of young people (big brothers/sisters group) to care for the AIDS orphans.
REGIONS oF ACTIVITY
- CRHA is working in 7 districts of Kampong Thom province (Baray, Sontok, Steung Sen, Kampong Svay, Brasat Sombo, Brasat Balang and Sondan).
- Using 7 local Church trainers, one for each district and a CRHA Field Supervisor. With 24 churches from many different denominations.
- From April 2006 the CRHA team (two men & two women) moved to Svay Rieng, a Province bordering Vietnam. There are 8 main Christian Denominations – Baptist, Independent Baptist, Methodist, The River of Life, SDA, Presbyterian, 4 Square & Catholic. (200 churches)
- AIDS training has commenced in the Districts of Romeas Hek, Chantrea, Svay Rieng, Svay Chhrom, Svay Teap & Kompong Ro. 50 churches from River of Life, Independent Baptist, Presbyterian & Baptists.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
- Pastors & CRHA team members from Kampong Thom & Svay Rieng attended the weekend trainings and the Christian Fair – The CRHA team also had a display booth at the fair.
- Lessons Learned Workshop with CRHA, HOPE (WR) & Samaratin’s Purse.
